Eamon is a musculoskeletal and sports imaging specialist at Envision Medical Imaging. He completed his medical degree (MBBS), from the University of Western Australia, in 1994 and his radiology fellowship (FRANZCR) in 2004. He undertook specialist fellowships in musculoskeletal imaging in London and Oxford between 2005 and 2006.
Eamon is passionate about imaging guided diagnosis and treatment of sports imaging and soft tissue injuries and started Western Australia’s first dedicated sports imaging and occupational injury service at Envision in 2008. He has worked extensively with state and national Australian athletes, including the Australian and Western Australian Cricket teams, the Fremantle Dockers, and Australian and Western Australian Institute of Sports (AIS and WAIS) athletes. This includes involvement in innovative sports medicine research on lumbar and pubic bone stress injuries, chronic calf injury and bowler’s side strain injury. He also provides imaging services for visiting national and professional sports teams.
Through his time in elite sports and rehabilitation, Eamon has developed expertise in soft tissue injury diagnosis and management. He has published his experience in innovative treatment for muscle, tendon and nerve injuries in leading peer-reviewed radiology and anatomy journals. This includes special interests in, and publication of, research on the use of ultrasound guided platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, neurolysis, soft tissue adhesiolysis and Botox injections for treatment of difficult tendinopathies, chronic calf injury and nerve entrapment syndromes including deep gluteal syndrome and neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (NTOS).
