What is a CT Spine?
A CT Spine uses CT Technology to take images of the spine. It is used to help diagnose spinal column damage in injured patients and provides detailed pictures of the vertebrae (bones of the spine) and other spinal structures and tissues.

A. Before your scan
What to bring
- Your request form
- Any relevant previous imaging
- Your Medicare card and any concession cards
Preparation – On the day of the scan
You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire regarding your health status, medication, and any known allergies. If there is any chance you may be pregnant, please inform us before your scan. You may also be asked to change into a gown and remove some jewellery for your scan.
B. During your CT Spine
Scan
You will be taken to the CT room and made comfortable on the examination table which will slide into the CT machine. The scan itself is completed in a matter of seconds.
Your scan will take approximately 15 minutes.
