At Envision Medical Imaging we offer outstanding thoracic diagnostic imaging to assist in diagnosing conditions of the lungs and surrounding tissues. This includes lung cancer screening and malignancy, airway diseases including asthma, lung disease and vascular disease and infections such as pneumonia.

Thoracic imaging uses modalities including CT scans, MRI scans and X-Rays to evaluate the chest area for diseases and includes functional imaging of the lung and cardiac imaging. Using advanced technology, Envisions’s diagnostic services include high-resolution chest CT, CT angiography of the aorta and pulmonary arteries, and conventional chest X-rays. Our radiologists and technologists are committed to providing the best imaging services while exposing patients to the lowest possible radiation. Our highly experienced radiologists then interpret the thoracic scans and prepare a report for your referring doctor or specialist.

Detect lung cancer with Thoracic CT Scans

Lung cancer detection and diagnosis is one aspect of thoracic imaging.  Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Australia. At Envision Medical Imaging we offer low dose CT of the chest which is considered more accurate than a regular chest X-ray. A low dose CT scan has been proven to reduce the risk of death from lung cancer by at least 20% in patients considered at high risk of developing lung cancer from cigarette smoking. This is because the scan can detect cancer at an earlier stage, when it is still curable. We are the only private clinic in Perth to offer state of the art Somatom Force CT scanner which can complete a study in less than 1 second at a lower dose and higher quality.

Our scans can detect:

  • Lung cancer from causes such as cigarette smoking or exposure to asbestos
  • Asbestosis (lung scarring)
  • Pleural plaque and mesothelioma (pleural cancer)

At the moment it isn’t known whether a low dose CT scan can reduce the likelihood of death from mesothelioma or asbestosis.  Find out more about lung cancer detection with CT.

CT

Envision is the only private practice with the new state of the art Siemens CT Somatom Force.  Force mode scanning completes a study in less than a second, at even lower dose, providing better image quality.  In addition, the protocols are personally prescribed by our radiologists to ensure extremely low levels of radiation, while maintaining optimal image quality. What remains the same is the high quality interpretation by specialists who are experts in their field. The low radiation that you receive from our multi-slice CT scans is comparable to many common dental X-ray series. We choose Siemens CT scanners because they include control mechanisms that automatically adjust the radiation dose level to the patient’s anatomy, keeping dose to a minimum.  It is similar to a highly sophisticated camera’s automatic exposure mode and delivers optimum low dose with high quality images. More about CT
